Self-Guided Exhibition Tour
Self-guided tours of the centre can be taken between the hours of 10am and 4.30pm every week day. The visit typically lasts one hour but feel free to take your time and enjoy the visit at your own pace. There’s a seating area with plenty of reading material to hand, or maybe you’ll be inspired to write a couple of lines of verse?

Guided Coach Tour of Kavanagh Trail
Starting with the exhibition in the Patrick Kavanagh Centre take a coach tour around the Kavanagh Trail and be immersed in the landscape that inspired the poet.
There are 10 sites to discover including:
- Inniskeen Parish Hall: an important social point in Kavanagh’s time
- Kednaminsha National School: where Kavanagh went to school
- Shancoduff: immortalised in the poem of the same name, Shancoduff, the field that Kavanagh bought and worked here was an important source of inspiration to the poet
This guided tour will be led by a Kavanagh expert who will share their unique insight into the poet. It is approximately 2 hours long and finishes at the Raglan Road Tea Rooms where you can enjoy post tour refreshments.
